Actress Kirstie Alley dies at 71 following battle with cancer

Actress Kirstie Alley, known for her breakout role in the sitcom "Cheers," has died after a recent battle with cancer. She was 71.

In 1991, Alley won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her portrayal of Rebecca Howe in "Cheers."

Ted Danson, who portrayed Sam Malone on "Cheers," remarked, "I am so sorry and very grateful for all the times she made me laugh."

After Cheers, Alley received more nominations for her work in the sitcom "The television shows "Last Don" and "Veronica's Closet"

In 1994, she won her second Emmy for playing Sally Goodson in the television movie "Mother of David.
