Australia announce four reigning Commonwealth Games champions in diving squad for Birmingham 2022

Australia has announced 14 divers, a mixture of experience and emerging talent, for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. 

Reigning Commonwealth Games gold medallists Melissa Wu and Esther Qin have both been included in the squad for the Games which are due to open on July 28

Dominic Bedgood and Georgia Sheehan, who are also the current Commonwealth Games champions, are set to compete in Birmingham 2022.

As a 13-year-old, Wu claimed a silver medal at Melbourne 2006 before going on to win golds at Delhi 2010, in the 10-metre platform synchronised diving. 

As well as an Olympic silver and bronze medalist, she is set to become the first Australian and fourth diver from any country to compete in five Commonwealth Games.

The 30-year-old will be aiming to become springboard champion for the third consecutive Games, after winning earlier gold and bronze medals at Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018.

Sheehan will look to retain her women's 3m springboard synchronized title later when she competes in her third Games in England. Because they will become independent and grow up
