This week, social media sleuths discovered that the country singer has been covertly funding many Tennessee high schools' band uniforms for years.

Oh, and it was subsequently revealed that Parton had given $1 million to the study that led to the development of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Shortly before receiving the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy at Gotham Hall in New York City on Thursday night, she spoke with The Associated Press in an interview.

Parton stated during her Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy acceptance speech that she doesn't really have a plan for her charitable giving.

She answered, "I just contribute from my heart." "I don't always know what I'm going to do or why.
