Dolly Parton gets Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy

The Tennessee singer-songwriter was honoured last week for her charitable efforts even though she is just days away from being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

On Thursday in New York, she accepted the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy.

Parton promised to continue extending her philanthropic activity as she accepted the medal.

I'm honoured and really proud to be a part of anything that will improve the world, Parton stated.

Her mental library is still expanding.

About 2 million books are presently sent out each month by the initiative that provides kids a new book until they reach five.

she gave $1 million to support COVID-19 research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center
