Jerry Hall files for divorce from Rupert Murdoch in US court

Jerry Hall has requested a divorce from billionaire media magnate Rupert Murdoch, alleging "irreconcilable differences."

Six years after their wedding, the former model requested spousal support and legal costs from the 91-year-old in a petition that was submitted to a California court on Friday.

Murdoch will go through his fourth divorce. Hall previously had four children from a long-term relationship with Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones.

Hall and Murdoch began dating in 2015, and they got hitched the following year.

People close to the family were surprised by the breakup, according to publications in the US.

Hall, who turned 66 on Saturday, also asked the judge to stop the court from granting Murdoch support.

A spokeswoman for Murdoch and Hall's attorney, Ronald Brot, did not right away respond to the Guardian's request for comment.
