Katie Ledecky wins 800 free for fifth consecutive title at world swimming championships

Katie Ledecky, a seven-time Olympic gold winner, 

continued to rule the FINA World Championships on Friday by winning all four of her races and extended her 

her winning streak in the women's 800-meter freestyle to eight straight competitions.

With a time of 8 minutes, 8.04 seconds, Ledecky, 25, outswam her rivals to win the competition, 

beating Kiah Melverton of Australia by more than 10 seconds

She won the 800-meter freestyle for her fifth straight world championship victory and eighth in a row overall, including Olympic finishes.

In reference to her first Olympic victory, Ledecky stated, "I think back to London." "I set out to not be a one-hit wonder, 

and ten years later, here we are. I'm incredibly proud of it and really eager for the future."
