‘Yellowstone’ Star Kelly Reilly on Season 5: ‘We Get to See Beth Squirm Out of a Few Things’

“There’s an unraveling this season,” Reilly tells TheWrap of Beth’s arc this year

The most viewed television programme right now is Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone," and a huge factor in that popularity is Kelly Reilly's portrayal of Beth Dutton

the razor-sharp, vengeful, and terribly wounded daughter of Kevin Costner's John Dutton.

Beth is in a new position as we begin season 5, which has just begun broadcasting on Paramount Network; her father has recently been elected governor and has just given her the chief-of-staff role.

TheWrap chatted with Reilly on "Yellowstone's" resounding popularity, what to anticipate from her character this season

and how her friendship with stern cowboy Rip (played memorable by Cole Hauser) evolved into the show's unanticipated emotional core.

She does give people and myself a little bit of a backbone, I agree. If you need to be fearless, possess something, and own yourself, I think she most clearly embodies that

. The fact that she possesses that quality is arguably one of Beth's strengths when she is at her finest.

No. Who could be sure? Who would have guessed it could be this? With Taylor writing, directing, and penning every word, it had amazing elements for sure

. And he developed this compelling, visceral universe with outstanding characters. To him, character is everything.

And then there's Kevin, Montana, and a tonne of other incredibly great folks who are putting on a really lovely Wild West show.

And as it has accumulated, developed, altered, and evolved, I believe it now fully understands what it is. It's amazing and amazing to see how hungry people are for it.
